- To value respect and open communication within the school community through daily meetings for the students and teachers and weekly open-assemblies for students, teachers and families.
- To forge strong connections between the school community and the local community by becoming involved and offering service, and by having a presence of community members in the school.
The community of the school is defined by the values shared by students of all ages, and modelled by the adults: responsibility, fairness, respect, co-operation and compassion, all of which create a safe and secure environment.
Daily collaborative activities will be planned, both in learning and social contexts where the students can fully engage and learn from each other.
Frequent whole school activities will encourage nurturing, tolerant interactions and will break down barriers across age groups, as well as improving confidence and leadership skills.
The community will be led with creativity and open mindedness that inspires everyone to fully share in the evolving journey of the school. Regular learning-focused discussion will allow for the reflection of current practice, along with the collaborative sharing of ideas about cutting-edge initiatives and new developments at our school.
Teachers and parents will share open communication. Parents will meet regularly with teachers to discuss their child’s learning progress and share their personalised goals. Parents will receive an overview of their child’s learning every week. Through Twitter, Facebook and other social networks, parents also have the opportunity to share their child’s daily experiences at school.
Ultimately, this web of relationships between all children and adults is at the core of the school community.
